FAQs

How many days a week is the course?

The course is Mon - Fri, 9am - 3pm during term time, with all your standard school holidays off.

Do I need qualifications to get a place on the course?

No, all we ask for is that you turn up with a positive attitude, ready to learn. We can help you gain key qualifications, such as GCSE maths and English, if required for your Military application too.

Do I need to have applied for the Military to be eligible for a place on the course?

No. You don’t even need to be sure that you want to go into the Military. That’s what QPD forces prep is all about - giving you a taster before you apply for the real thing. Once you have decided that the Military is for you, we can then support you through your application process.

We do also accept students who are going through their application, have a date or deferral. We can help you keep motivated and fit while you’re waiting for next steps.

Are there any fitness requirements to gain a place on the course? What if I’m not fit enough?

Everyone has to start somewhere. We accept all fitness requirements and our fitness sessions cater to all abilities. If you have particular goals, share them with our tutors and we will make sure you get the support you need to meet them.

Can I join the course if I’ve been rejected from the Military?

Yes. We have helped many students understand and appeal rejections. This applies to deferrals too. Please get in touch with us or mention in your application.

Are you a boarding college?

No, we’re not. We operate regular college hours (Mon - Fri, 9am - 3pm), with your standard school holidays off. However, we do offer overnight trips and residentials as part of the course.

Do I have to pay for the course?

No, our course is classed as further education, like many colleges and sixth forms, therefore free to 16 - 18 year olds.

Do I need to be certain I want to go in the Military?

No - that’s what QPD forces prep is all about, giving you a taster before you apply for the real thing.

Am I eligible for the travel bursary?

Travel bursary is calculated on household income. When a student is inducted onto our course, we go through all the bursary requirements with that individual.

Can I join the college if I have a part-time job?

Yes, we are flexible with part-time workers. Please mention this when applying to come onto the course and we can discuss further.
