About the course

Our basic training preparation course is full-time and runs for 26-weeks. Most of the time you'll be out and about learning practical skills and gaining valuable experience for your future career but we also run some theory sessions from our headquarters in Raywell Street, Hull. We recruit 16-18 year old males and females who want a flavour for what life in the uniformed services is like and who want to gain the confidence, motivation and fitness required to succeed.

If you're reading this then you've probably thought about a career in the uniformed services and want to go into a job that is challenging and demanding. There are very few places where you can get a real taste for what life in the armed services will be like but this course is as close as it gets.

If you fit the bill, are looking for a fun and exhilarating challenge and want to earn up-to £30 per-week whilst you train then our course will prepare you for the basic training element of entry into the various services. The course is full-time (30 hours per-week) and is tailored to meet your needs in terms of physical and mental preparation.

There are four main areas of training within the course, these are:

Area 1: Team building

You will learn to climb, abseil, mountaineer and cave. Through these activities, you will learn to work as a team, gain confidence and self-sufficiency.

Area 2: Practical workshops

In the central training rooms you will learn the theory behind the practices. This includes care of equipment, navigation skills and communication skills. All workshops are carried out in a relaxed atmosphere and practical manner.

Area 3: Fitness
